FCC releases app for testing broadband speeds

The Federal Communications Commission has released its first mobile application. The app, which is also available in a fixed version, lets consumers test the speed and latency of broadband connectivity and reports that information to consumers and the FCC. The mobile app, called Consumer Broadband Test, is available through Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Android app stores. The fixed version is available at www.broadband.gov.
